About The Event

Please arrive 20mins before the lesson to allow for setup and instructions.

Please note the tuition fee does not include materials.  If you have some materials from previous lessons, please bring them with you. Owing to space and COVID restrictions classes will be limited to 8 participants.

Paints – Any artist quality brands of oil paint, but my preferred paints are Winsor & Newton.  I will leave a preferred materials list with Peter at PNE.  Bring along what you have from the list below.

Cool Colours

Permanent Alizarin Crimson, Cerulean Blue, Cobalt Blue, Yellow Light, Burnt Umber, Viridian Green

Warm Colours

Cadmium Red, Ultramarine Blue, Cadmium Yellow, Cadmium Orange.

Medium Colour

Light Red, Yellow Ochre

Boards and Stretched Canvases

20 x 24cm will be the preferred size, about $17 from the art shop. Sizes 18 x 20cm or 16 x 20cm will also work.

Brushes – Bring whatever bristle hog brushes you already own but make sure you have a large Bright 10 and a selection of filberts and brights size 6 & 8 with a good rigger brush to finish and sign you work.  Don’t panic about brushes as Peter has a good selection in the shop.

Medium – Archival Odourless Lean

Palette – It is important that your palette has room for mix. I use a large piece of Perspex or glass. There are some great disposable palettes from PNE Art and Framing. The old ice-cream lid is not big enough.

Other Stuff – Drawing equipment should include a pencil, kneadable eraser and sketch book. Bring old rags, tissues or paper towels and a large jar with a screw top lid (for odourless solvent).  Your easel will be supplied for the day.
